Terms of Service

fencing.ru — live fencing competition service
Effective date: 16 June 2026

1. General

1.1. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the fencing.ru website and the related competition-management tools (the "Service"), operated by Sole Proprietor Sergei Tikhomirov, registration number (OGRNIP) 317774600222831, Russian Federation ("we", "us").

1.2. By using the Service in any way (viewing competition pages, creating a competition, refereeing) you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

2.1. The Service provides tools for running fencing competitions: start lists, draws, poules, direct-elimination brackets (including team relay matches), live scoring, public publication of competition progress and results, printable protocols, and hall scoreboards.

2.2. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, add, or remove features at any time.

2.3. The core functionality of the Service (sparring practice up to 20 participants, the fencing timer, viewing live pages) is free of charge. Advanced features (higher participant limits, multiple rounds and formats, team tournaments, piste manager, hall screens, extended printing, private mode, etc.) are offered for a one-time per-competition fee under a separate public offer (in Russian); payments are accepted in Russian roubles via a Russian payment provider. A free demo mode with full functionality is available on randomly generated participants (up to 100 participants / up to 24 teams); participant names and count cannot be changed, and a "DEMO" mark is kept in the competition name. We may, at our sole discretion, issue promo codes (up to a 100% discount); such decisions are made at our discretion and without stating reasons.

2.4. Finalization of results. Once a competition is marked finished and 24 hours have passed since the last change, editing is locked and the published results are deemed final. To make corrections, the organizer may unlock the competition using the secret code sent to their e-mail when the competition was created; unlocking reopens the editing window. Such corrections concern the results of direct-elimination (bracket) bouts. The group stage, which determines the bracket structure, may not be changed after the bracket has been formed — this prevents distortion of an already-played bracket and preserves the integrity of the final protocol.

2.5. Technical requirements. The Service is an online service and functions only where the user has an active Internet connection; it runs in the user's browser. The availability and performance of the Service for a given user depend on that user's Internet connection, device, and browser, which belong to the user and are beyond our control.

The Service is designed to run in current versions of common browsers (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and similar); correct operation in outdated or non-standard browsers is not guaranteed. The user assesses connection quality at the place of use (including the competition venue) and, where necessary, arranges a backup Internet channel; the risk of absent or interrupted connectivity rests with the user.

We are not responsible for lack of access to the Service or for interruptions or malfunctions caused by factors on the user's side or by third parties beyond our control, including: absence or termination of the Internet connection, poor quality or insufficient bandwidth of the user's connection, faults in the user's device or software, or actions of telecom operators and Internet providers.

3. Roles and access keys

3.1. Viewer — anyone may view published competition pages without registration.

3.2. Organizer — the person who creates a competition. The organizer receives an administration link (access key) and is responsible for keeping it confidential: anyone holding the key has full control of the competition.

3.3. Referees, secretaries, team captains receive limited-scope access links from the organizer.

3.4. Sharing access keys is at the organizer's own risk. We are not responsible for the actions of anyone holding a valid key.

4. Organizer obligations regarding participant data

4.1. By entering participants' data (athletes, referees, coaches) into the Service, the organizer acts as the data controller for that data and instructs us to process it as a processor, to the extent needed to run and publish the competition. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the data-processing terms (GDPR Art. 28; Russian 152-FZ Art. 6(3)).

4.2. The organizer represents and warrants that:

  • all participant data is collected and entered lawfully;
  • each participant has been informed and has given any consent required by applicable law, including consent to the public publication of their data in live protocols and results — covering publication on the Service, on the partner platform's resources (zenfencing.ru), and on the organizer's own channels (website, social media, etc.) if the organizer publishes results there — and, for minors, the consent of a parent or legal guardian (template consent forms are available in the Service's documents section);
  • upon our request, the organizer will provide evidence of such consents;
  • if a participant withdraws consent, the organizer will promptly remove or anonymize the data in the Service or contact us.

4.3. The organizer shall indemnify us against losses, fines, and claims arising from the organizer's breach of clause 4.2.

5. Acceptable use

You must not: enter knowingly false, offensive, or rights-infringing data; use the Service for purposes unrelated to sports competitions; attempt unauthorized access, key guessing, or circumvention of rate limits; scrape the Service at volumes that disrupt its operation; interfere with the Service's software; or take any action aimed at circumventing plan limits or payment terms for paid features (including using version rollback, or removing and re-adding participants, to run events beyond the paid scope). We may restrict access and/or require additional payment where such actions are detected.

6. Intellectual property

The Service's software, design, and interface elements belong to us. Competition data (lists, results) remains with the organizer and participants; the organizer grants us the right to publish this data as part of operating the Service, including on the partner platform's resources (zenfencing.ru). The organizer may publish competition results on their own channels subject to section 4.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

7.1. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and are not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Service — including disruption or distortion of competition results, loss of data, acts of third parties, or inability to access the Service for reasons on the user's side (absence or interruption of the Internet connection, device or browser faults — clause 2.5).

7.2. The free functionality of the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, and we accept no liability for damages arising from its use, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. For paid features, our liability is capped at the amount paid for the service concerned, without limiting consumers' statutory rights.

7.3. We are not the organizer of any competition and bear no responsibility for how competitions are conducted, refereed, or whether they comply with sports regulations.

8. Changes and termination

8.1. We may amend these Terms; the current version is published at https://fencing.ru/legal/terms?lng=en. Continued use after publication constitutes acceptance.

8.2. We may restrict or terminate access for users violating these Terms and remove competitions created in violation of section 5.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Russian Federation. Disputes shall first be addressed through a written claim (30-day response period) and, failing resolution, in the courts at our registered location, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
